1. Always make sure you have the latest driver updates:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
If you have ATI, have fun searching for them.
2. Turn down the viewing distance in your video options menu in Planetside.
3. Turn down all the other settings, too.
4. Make sure your Anti-Virus isn't active or scanning or anything crazy like that.
5. Run disk cleanup often to get rid of all those temporary files.
6. Consider uninstalling because PS still runs like crap even on newer computers with higher end graphics cards.
7. Check out your registry to make sure you don't have a bunch of applications running that waste memory.
8. Ask!

Just because i know alot of people do this, if you have the fans facing a wall or something...seriously..put some space..that will overheat your computer and make your fans useless.

Re: Optimizing Your PC for PS Performance.
man I started playing PS with an amdK6 450mhz + geforce 2 TI64ddr, playing on low setting... Now i have an Athlon64 3400+ geforce 8800 Gt 512mb, 2g of ram and i run PS setting a maximum 1600x1200 and I still could use a better PC. thought PS still look good compare to other game of the same age!

Re: Optimizing Your PC for PS Performance.
Yarrrh. That doesn't make sense. I have:
AMD 6000+ DC
8800 gts (the 640 one, yeah i know it's the worst of the bunch)
2 Gigs ram
1440 x 900
And I STILL get below 40 FPS in a big battle with all my settings on medium - low. There's a big difference when I'm running in a smaller battle at 100 fps versus 30, I die a lot quicker. And I overclock the crap outta the CPU and the GPU. Boo.
How do you get it at maximum?

Core 2 Quad @ 2.6 here
then i got some nonsense gfx card...
and 4 gigs RAM.
my monitor is 2 hands wide (turned my hand sideways and measured.... even tho theres a tape measurere in front of me, i am LAZY!)
i score around 70 FPS. Usually when i run pside, ill go into task manager and get rid of everything thats not important. (rundll32.exe?? who needs taht?)a
